Bulletin for the Week of February 5

Bulletin for the Week of February 5

Join us for Scout Sunday - and support an Eagle Scout project! Donate your used eye glasses...

Download this week's bulletin - and give the gift of sight! There are collection boxes in church for used eyeglass which will be sent to those in need around the world.

Here's a note from our aspiring Eagle Scout:

My name is Ryan Murn, and I am a boy scout for Troop 681 in Falls Church working on my Eagle rank. My eagle project involves reaching out to collect glasses and build awareness of the Lion’s Club Eyeglass recycling program. Through the Lion`s Club, recycled glasses are distributed to people in need in low and middle income communities around the world. Since 1998, the local Arlington Lion’s Club distributed over 1.8 million glasses through various mission and faithbased groups.

My goal is to collect 1,000 glasses for the Lion`s Club distribution around the world. In just about every home, one can find a pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used.. and those eyeglasses can change another person's life. Together we can impact one person at a time.

Donatable Eye Glasses:

  • Prescripition glasses for adults and children
  • bifocals
  • reading glasses
  • non-prescripition sunglasses

Last year, the Lions Eyeglass Center of Northern VA shipped glasses to Albania, Bolivia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Mauritania, Mexico, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Peru, Panama, the Philippines, Romania, Swailand, Uganda, and Ukraine.

The collection takes place through Febuary 18, 2017 - check your drawers now!

Together we can all make a difference one pair of glasses at a time!
