Bishop Burbidge announced a period of preparation leading up to our Diocesan Golden Jubilee in 2024. The first year begins on the Solemnity of Christ the King (November 21) and is dedicated to the Holy Eucharist. To observe this and to deepen our parish’s devotion, we will have 40 Hours devotion from December 5 through December 7, leading up to the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception. During that 40 Hours, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed around the clock for adoration, devotions, and private prayer.
We will have extra times for Confession during the 40 Hours. We will also have set times for the praying of the Rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and the Liturgy of the Hours. But the most important element of this time is simple, quiet prayer before our Lord. The most important thing to do during the 40 Hours is to come to the church and pray. Finally, all of this is with a view of offering a better sacrifice – or offering sacrifice better – at the end. We hope to conclude the 40 Hours with more generous hearts given to the Lord.
See the full schedule below.
Five volunteers are needed for each hour of Adoration. If you would like to give your gift of your time before our Lord, click on the online signup below for Adoration. Prior to leaving the church at the end of your time, please make sure that other people are remaining so that our Eucharistic Lord is not left unattended.
