Parish Mission Statement

Mission Statement for St. James Parish

St. James Parish, within the Diocese of Arlington, is a community of parishioners, clergy, and staff with various cultural backgrounds who are united as a family of faith brought together by our Heavenly Father, empowered by Jesus Christ, and transformed by the Holy Spirit.

Members of the St. James community are asked to unite their time, talents, and treasure as together we:

  • Pray, worship, and celebrate our relationship with God with the goal of enhancing the spiritual growth of each member of our Catholic Christian community;

  • Foster the faith formation and sacramental experience of all our parishioners as we journey to reach our full potential;

  • Provide first class education in our parish school and our religious education program, focusing on the spiritual, intellectual, and social growth of every child entrusted to our care;

  • Serve people in need, actively work for justice, promote peace, and stand for the integrity and dignity of all persons through all stages of life from conception to natural death;

  • Act as the living presence of Christ in our world, building community, bringing comfort, and welcoming all; and

  • Empower each other to share the Gospel and enact the New Evangelization.

“Be doers of the word, and not just listeners”

— James 1:22
